bfme2 1.09 has stronger heroes (for better or worse depending on what you prefer), more focus on unit preservation as units can level 10 instead of 5 levels.ĭespite playing bfme2 more than rotwk I'll have to recommend rotwk more, I just haven't gotten around to learning it well enough yet which is mostly why I don't enjoy it as much. Rotwk has some questionable changes that I'm not a fan of though such as Tavern not existing, black riders aren't heroes anymore, dwarven units take 200 years to recruit, battle towers are tanky and annoying as hell. Signal fires only give vision as opposed to reduced spell cooldown like in bfme2 which often results in power spam. But as for 1.09 vs 2.02, apart from the fact that rotwk 2.02 has the new faction and units, 2.02 has tougher structures meaning more focus on unit battles.
check out the below link to view the official trailer for the mod. You can build the ultimate army from any faction to take on Middle-Earth. I mainly play bfme2 1.09 but have been playing more 2.02 lately and I enjoy both.Īs for more detailed differences between rotwk and bfme2. This mod opens the ROTWK right open by giving you all heroes, all abilities, an immense selection of super powers plus brand new heroes and structures. They play a little different cause of how they choose to balance but are still the same game. Both rotwk and bfme2 have good balance with the latest community patches 1.09 and 2.02. As for balance, I can't really speak as I haven't played bfme1 in ages. BFME2 has more focus on build orders and unit micromanagement.
BFME1 has more focus on map control and capturing bases.
